The first bank to be organized in Lockhart, Texas, the First National Bank of Lockhart was opened April 15, 1889 by James G. Burleson. Burleson was the brother of cabinet member and Postmaster General Albert Sidney Burleson. The board of directors included many of the men that played an important part in the development of Lockhart and Caldwell County, including John T. Storey, James A. Thompson, and J.M. Jolley.
In 1934, the First National Bank merged with Lockhart National Bank, forming the First-Lockhart National Bank.

It has been a mainstay for the community and region providing financial services and community support for the citizens of the area. Its main location on the historic Lockhart downtown square is an icon to the community and reinforces its heritage and place in the history and growth of Lockhart. Our location represents 134 years of continuous presence on the town square serving the citizens of Lockhart and Caldwell County.
As we continued to grow, we added additional space for our lending department in the late 70’s.
In 1984, First Lockhart National Bank had the first ATM in Caldwell County installed.
When First Lockhart National Bank installed the first ATM, we also added a second drive through location here in Lockhart. This is now known as Motor Bank 2 and still operates today.
In 1999, we acquired another building and expanded our lobby.
First Lockhart National Bank began its digital transformation in early 2000 when we implemented our first ever online banking system for our customers and our first ever website: www.flnbank.com.
Online Account Application – By year 2009, our lives were becoming busier than ever, and more and more of us were managing areas of our lives online. We launched the ability for customers to submit a rewards checking account application online 24x7, 365 days a year.
Apply for a mortgage online – Home is where the heart is so in 2009 we launched an online mortgage application to help our customers make their dream of ownership easier.
Mobile Banking – In year 2011 we opened a “Mobile branch” that allowed us to serve our customers 24x7, 365 days a year all from the convenience of a mobile phone. We bet when James Burleson opened in 1889, he never dreamed this would be possible.
In 2012, we saw the communities around us were growing. We opened our first branch in Kyle, Texas in November 2012.
We opened our second branch in 2012 off of Slaughter Lane, in Austin, Texas.
Video Banking – In 2021, we launched our Video Banking platform that truly allows our customers to bank with us, face to face, from almost anywhere.
